T O N U S :: M O D U L A T I O N – everything from soft to powerful
Thinking the body as a music instrument – it allows very different sounds, depending on how much it is toned
We will use developmental movement patterns to find softness and effortless strength to move between the floor and standing level. We’ll wonder how each body part can stay responsive and adjustable in every moment to be available for the unknown, that improvisation wants to embrace. If the covid-19 situation allows, we’ll explore with these options to modulate the body tone some fundamentals of contact technique, listening and following through touch, receiving and giving weight, trying some lifts.
And we will tune our mental tone as well. Shifting between a clear focus and a wider & softer availability for whatever wants to happen, observing how we make decisions that satisfy us individually, while connecting us to a dance partner or the whole group. Happy trying and graceful failing are highly welcomed companions on this journey.
The content and material of the Workshop depends to a certain degree on the covid-19 infection rates and the current restrictions, at the time the Workshop takes place. If touch is not allowed then, the workshop will turn more into a Somatic Improvisation Workshop, that still invites nurturing aspects of working with a partner and the group, just without touch.
