Somatic stands for ways to listen to the body and moving more from inner motivations than copying outer shapes. Joerg’s work is informed by developmental movement patterns. They connect to the fundamental principles of organising movements, which we learned mainly as babies and toddlers. Working with body systems like bones & joints or the elastic web of our connective tissue gives juicy qualities to our dancing.

Improvisation benefits from trying to know less, listening to oneself and others, a non-judgemental mindset and the courage to nibble on the edges of one’s comfort zone.

No previous experiences needed to join this workshop, just enough openness to try things out.

Joerg Hassmann
Dancer and passionate movement teacher. Deeply interested in learning and the question ‘what is it that makes us feel connected?’ – on many different levels.
He is one of the leading figures in Europe in the field of Contact Improvisation through teaching for more than 25 years, offering Training Programmes and organising festivals. Since a bit more than a year he lives in Maleny with his australian wife and his son.
